My First Cake Decoration for 2013 – Yellow Cake with Buttercream Frosting








Cake recipe adopted from bettycrocker.


For Cake
Ingredients
All purpose flour – 2 ¼ cup
Unsalted butter – ¾ cup
Sugar – 1 ½ cup
Baking powder – 2 tsp
Vanilla extract – 2 tsp
Eggs - 4
Milk – 1 cup

Buttercream Frosting
Ingredients
Confectioners sugar – 2 cups
Unsalted butter – 1 cup
Vanilla extract – 1 tsp
Milk – 2 Tsp
Colours
Sprinklers

Method

For Buttercream
In a bowl cream butter with electric mixer.
Add one cup sugar at a time, beating well on low speed for 2 mins.
Add vanilla, milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.
Cover the bowl, keep it aside.

For Cake
Preheat oven to 3500F.  Grease and flour cake pans.
In a bowl add dry ingredients. Sieve twice and mix well.
In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add extract and mix until completely combines.
On low speed, slowly add dry ingredients alternately with milk just until blended.
Pour into a pan. Bake at 3500F for 30 – 35 mins.
Now insert the needle and if it comes out clean, cake is baked.
Let it cool for 10 mins before removing from pan.
Take out from pan and cool it completely.
Now divide the buttercream into parts. Add your choice of colours to the divided portions.
Now design the cake according to your design.
